After two years, we have finally released new music. We put so much into this EP that it doesn’t even feel real that it is finished. Everything about this EP is different from the last. It had to be. It was written during long car rides and McDonalds coffee stops (much cheaper than Starbucks). Each song has a unique feel and vibe. We didn't want to write the same song over and over, so with Vandals each song is its own.
Summed up by a Facebook post from our front man, Logan Oakes, 2015 was the most successful year in our five-year career as a band. We traveled across half the country and played more shows than we ever have for more people than we ever have. Our mission as a band is to reach people, so this past year has been a great one. From sleepless nights driving to and from shows to playing intense games of Lord of the Rings Risk, 2015 is a year to remember.
This summer has been everything we could have hoped for. After being on the road all summer, traveling well over 15,000 miles, and making more new friends than we can count, the consensus in the band is that we don’t want this summer to end. Our tour dates this summer consisted of shows in Indiana, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Illinois, Florida, Missouri, Iowa, West Virginia, and South Dakota. If you have followed our journeys on social media, you might remember some of these stories, but if not, we wanted to reflect on some of our experiences.
And we’re back! Long time no talk? See? Read? Anyways, we have so much to tell you guys about and we thought we would start with a new blog post! First off, we want to thank you guys for showing us so much support during these last couple of months. We have seen a lot of familiar faces at multiple shows and we couldn’t be happier that you guys still want to come and see us.
It's amazing how often we doubt. We constantly say we put our trust in God. We pray it, we praise with it, we even put it on the back of money (hopefully it stays that way). Yet more often than not, we doubt him. So are we simply reminding ourselves that we are supposed to put our trust in Him, or are we actually doing it?
On Saturday, the five of us had the incredible opportunity to perform at Holiday World’s Rock the World festival. The festival is held at an amusement park in Santa Claus, IN and is home to some of the highest ranked wooden roller coasters in the nation. While we were excited to ride some rides and have a good time, the main excitement for the day came from being able to play on the festival’s main stage. With artists like 1 Girl Nation, Sanctus Real, Mandisa, and Toby Mac playing on the same stage, the pressure was on for the five of us to be on the top of our game.
Studio Time "On Your Way" March 15, 2014 Today we got back into the studio with Mark Lee Townsend after a few weeks off. We've been working on a new song that's a little slower than the other songs that we've recorded for our EP, "Sunsets and Second Chances," set to release in mid May. We really wanted this song to have a powerful message about God's grace.
